Providing psychological and psychometric testing and assessments

Psychological assessments may sound intimidating, but they are designed to help you understand your skills and abilities.

The results of these assessments can help, if needed, in the development of a treatment plan that addresses your needs and strengths.

Our Assessment Team at The Resilience Centre provide psychological and psychometric testing for a range of conditions, including:

  • ADHD (including Adult ADHD)
  • Learning Disorders (otherwise known as dyslexia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia)
  • Assessing for giftedness
  • Intellectual Disability and assessment of functioning
  • Anxiety or mental health issues impacting on school performance
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder – Diagnosis and determining appropriate severity level (e.g., level 1, 2 etc.)

Assessments can be done for applications or reviews for the NDIS as well as for the Disability Support Pension.

The Resilience Centre is able to provide assessments for adults and children aged 6 and above.

Sometimes after an initial interview the assessment team member may assess and advise that individual therapy is needed, rather than testing.

What does an assessment involve?

Initial clinical interview, to gather information about the key issue and relevant background details. If it is a child being assessed it is expected that the parent will also attend.
Duration: 1 hour

Psychometric Testing –WISC-V, WAIS-IV are the measures of cognitive ability available. WIAT-III is for measuring academic achievement.
Duration: Up to 2 hours

Questionnaires – completed by individuals, parents and/or teachers. For Autism Assessment in children and adolescents, this will typically involve a comprehensive structured parent interview in addition to tests listed above.

Report and Feedback – Once testing is completed, individuals will receive a comprehensive, detailed report that covers the findings of testing, conclusions and recommendations. Please Note: Reports usually take a minimum of 4 weeks to prepare as they involve assessment scoring, results interpretation and report writing.

Reports are provided with a feedback session which allows the individual to ask questions and understand the key findings of the report.
Duration: 1 hour

You will need to book a time for your Initial Consultation, but the Assessment Team member you see, will arrange a time with you for any tests required and for the Follow Up consultation.

These three sessions must be on separate days.
