DBT Family & Friends Support Group ONLINE
$595.00
A program for family or friends of participants in a DBT program, to learn how to help their loved one more effectively and also help themselves.
Family, partners, carers and friends of people who experience emotional dysregulation can experience stormy relationships, and feel like they are on a roller coaster of extreme closeness and love, to extreme dislike and anger. However, they can play a very important role in supporting and helping their loved one develop effective coping skills.
Interactions with people who are emotionally dysreguated can be, at times, challenging. Despite having the best intentions, things can be said and done which sometimes can develop unhelpful patterns of behaviour.
Family and friends can experience frustration, distress, burden and grief and may find their role impacts their own mental health.
This program will equip and support family and friends with knowledge about Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and DBT skills. It will also utilize these skills to manage the impact of caring for someone with emotional dysregulation and so help their loved one more effectively and also help themselves.
The program will offer an opportunity for us to connect via video-link, learn, share and implement helpful strategies.
The group runs once a week in the evening for 8 weeks and will involve discussions, teaching, skills development and support covering:
