“Hoarding disorder” refers to a way of thinking that can be repetitive, overwhelming, obsessive, crippling and stifling.
“Hoarding” is a term used freely for people who just have a lot of stuff and things they value. However, this is not hoarding, it is just collecting. “Hoarding disorder” on the other hand refers to a way of thinking that can be repetitive, overwhelming, obsessive, crippling and stifling.
Hoarding disorders appear to be on the increase, however research into the disorder appears to be patchy and inconclusive.
This seminar covers aspects of the disorder and gives an insight into the thinking patterns of a Hoarder. Approaches that do and don’t appear to work in helping a person with a hoarding disorder, are discussed.
