Schemas are our core beliefs that we have learnt from our early childhood, our parents and significant others. They are shaped by our memories and experiences. We use these schemas to help us view ourselves, others and the world around us. This program aims to heal participant's unhelpful schemas.
Mindfulness is the practice of purposely focusing your attention on the present moment and accepting it without judgement. Participants will be taught how to cultivate acceptance, commitment and compassion to recognise unhelpful reactions to experiences, and as a result, restore their insight and change their emotional habits.
Research has shown that mindfulness skills can alleviate stress and anxiety, as well as stopping the relapse of depression. Mindfulness can also be used to work with people who have experienced past trauma.
The 10 week program includes two follow up sessions.
