We have an exciting new initiative happening at The Resilience Centre. Shortly we will have available a Resilience Coach who will be able to help clients with identifying their strengths, goal setting and other practical skills such as optimistic thinking strategies and mindfulness skills. Frances Goldfinch, a provisional psychologist working at The Resilience Centre is expected to take on this role later this month. More details available on our website soon. 

This month we also have a one day workshop we probably ALL would be interested in! Do you have to deal with difficult people? Difficult people are hard work! However, sometimes you can't avoid them because you work or live with them. If you need to stop avoiding hard conversations, confidently deal with issues early and want to have more confidence to say what you think and get a good result, then don't miss Dealing with Difficult People. Our fortnightly Wednesday Night HOT TOPICS series of informal seminars for Term 2, starts this Wednesday night, 7 - 8.30pm here at The Resilience Centre. They are becoming so popular that some topics have almost reached our capacity audience, so we do advise you to book in advance and also save $5 on the $25 registration fee.  

  • 8 MAY  IS IT "THE BLUES" OR IS IT DEPRESSION?  How to know the difference and help yourself, family or friends. Presenter: Adam Wright.  This is a very useful topic for those who feel someone they know has "the blues" or maybe depressed and would like to thelp but don't know what to do or say.   • 22 MAY   BEING BRAVE: How parents can help children fight their worries and fear. Presenter: Erin Patten. See Erin's very useful blog on children and anxiety on our website then come to this seminar for even more insights and tips.
  • 5 JUNE  ANGRY ADOLESCENTS - How to re-connect. Presenter: Alison Lenehan. This one is expected to be very popular so we suggest you book early. For a preview read Alison's blog
  • 19 JUNE  WORRY WARRIORS - How to fight fear.  Presenter: Andrew Scott. Tips for those who can't seem to stop worrying, suffer with social anxiety or feel they constantly procrastinate.

Upcoming Programs

In Term 2
Connect 3 on Tuesday afternoons, starting on 7 May is fully booked, however we are taking registrations for the next Connect 3 program expected to run in Term 3. This program is a 5 week resilience building program for 8 - 12 year olds which aims to improve confidence and social skills to help them cope in challenging situations. Link3d Up  on Wednesday afternoons, starting 15 May has only two places still available. This 5 week resilience building program, for adolescents 13 - 16 years, is based on the Resilience Doughnut model and is designed to teach resilience skills vital for the teenage years. In Term 3
Above the Line - Challenge anxious thinking, get ahead and be your best will be on Tuesday evenings, starting 23 July. This is a 4 week program for adults who have difficulty maintaining optimism through anxious or negative thinking. Click here for more details.

Get Lost Mr Scary on Saturday mornings, starting 3 August.  This early intervention program for 5 - 7 year olds, through play and stories addresses common anxieties in young children, such as separation anxiety, social phobias and specific fears, eg fear of the dark, dogs etc. We suggest anyone interested in this program email us expressing your interest as soon as possible.  For more details click here  


Living with a Creative Mind on Thursday evenings, starting 15 August.  This will be a 6 week program facilitated by Julie Crabtree who co-authored the book with the same name (click here).  Watch our website for more details about this program in the coming weeks. 

Workshops at The Resilience Centre

Dealing with Difficult People  - A one day workshop facilitated by Kylie Warry on Saturday 25 May. It will provide you with some down to earth tools and resources to help you deal with difficult people, be they in your workplace or within your circle of family or friends. Resilience Doughnut Accredited Training - A 2 day workshop on 2 & 3 June is almost full.  It will equip you with the skills and resources to implement the Resilience Doughnut  in your school, organization or counselling practice. This workshop is now an endorsed program with the NSW Institute of Teachers.Click here for more details about all our accredited training courses.
