HOT TOPICS - Wednesday Nights

These informal evening seminars for the general community, are presented by our experienced psychologists. They provide psychological insights into a variety of challenging life issues.

WHERE: The Resilience Centre, 4th Floor, 51 Rawson St, Epping

WHEN: 7.00 - 8.30 pm. Please arrive at 6.45 pm if you have not pre-registered.

COST: $30 per person, $50 for two people.

14 MARCH CONFIDENT KIDS: Help your child navigate the seas of uncertainty

Presenter: Sarah Piper

Parenting an anxious child or teen, can be fraught with difficulty. The desire to be supportive and loving, whilst maintaining firm boundaries, is never easy.

This seminar will outline practical strategies for you and your child in how to manage their worries and anxieties.

Learn how both of you can be deliberate in your responses to:

  • Enable a sense of calm
  • Build courage
  • Develop confidence.

SARAH is a registered psychologist and a mother of four with a keen interest in the healthy development and resilience of children and families. She is an accredited facilitator of the Resilience Doughnut programs and has extensive experience in a number of human services fields, including school counselling. Sarah loves to work with parents in their specific situations and has both personal and professional experience in working with anxiety.


Presenter: Ida Soghomonian 

Retirement is a major life change which can involve having to adjust to a vastly different schedule and change of routine. So much of our self worth can be tied up with career success and accomplishment, therefore planning and preparing yourself emotionally will ensure a more positive transition to retirement.

This seminar will focus on: 

  • Stages of retirement
  • Tips for adjusting to retirement
  • Coping with the emotional pitfalls of retirement
  • Boosting well-being and finding satisfaction
  • Living a purposeful life after retirement  

IDA is a registerd psychologist. During her 25 year career she has worked in Australia and Singapore with children, youth, adults, couples, families, groups and teams in private practice, schools, community organizations and companies. She is experienced in counselling, executive coaching, human resource management, organizational development and training.
